Early Life

Sundar Pichai, born June 10, 1972 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India, is an Indian-American business executive. He grew up in Chennai and showed early interest in technology and engineering.

Education

Career

Pichai began his career as a materials engineer and later worked at McKinsey & Co. He joined Google in 2004, where he led product management for Google Chrome, Chrome OS, and Google Drive. His leadership in developing Chrome made it one of the world’s most popular browsers.

In 2015, Sundar Pichai became the CEO of Google, and in 2019, he was appointed CEO of Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company.

Awards

Pichai was included in Time's annual list of the 100 most influential people in 2016 and 2020. He was also included in the Time 100 AI list in 2024. He was awarded the 2021 Asia Game Changer Award by the Asia Society. In 2022, Pichai received the Padma Bhushan in the category of Trade and Industry from the Government of India, the country's third-highest civilian award
